Since Easter a lot has been going on - not much baseball. It has been raining and games canceled. But to catch up Spencer's team the Lion's lost their last two games by one point. Their record is 2-4-1 - they have a game today and Tommy's team lost two games and won today so they are 6-2. Way to go Irish. Summer hockey has started. Taylor and Tommy had games last weekend. Taylor's team lost 4-0 (they were tired from Try -Outs) and Tommy's team won 7-0 and Tommy scored his first goal! Spencer's first game is this weekend (he is playing PW - this is an older team for his age). Speaking of Try-Outs - The Hitmen had their Bantam A try-outs on Saturday and Sunday and pretty much it was our team and a couple new boys trying out and we thought - it would be "us" all together again. But we didn't know the plans our coaches had. (I'm sure) they made phone calls all Sunday and Monday and had an additional try-out on Monday night and a bunch a big 7 good second year Bantam players came and Taylor and a number of very nice boys & good hockey players were cut from the team. I think they should have told us a head of time what their plans were. It wasn't a nice way to treat the boys and they think they were cut for not being "big" enough - that is not a nice thing for a teenage boy to hear -it's like telling a girl she is too fat. The Hitmen Organization is losing some nice families because of this. Taylor just wants to play and have some fun. The younger boys had try-outs too and Spencer is on the Hitmen - TeamHouston Squirt team and Tommy is on the Mite house team for the Hitmen. It will be great to have them at the rink by our house and we won't have to drive to Sugar Land on school nights.
Taylor is going to take some time to decide what to do next season. We are getting a lot of emails asking him to think about some different teams, but we are not jumping into anything - he may play prep hockey, here in Houston. He can decide in August. He doesn't want to play for another organization for Travel Hockey - that is why he didn't go to their try-outs. But the others are putting together a team and they sort of need him to have enough for the team. We'll see ~
Last week all the kids had field trips, Tommy went to the Zoo, Spencer went to Mrs Baird's Bread and on Wed. Taylor went to Our Lady to Guadalupe to bring books to the school. I drove some of the kids there. It is a really pretty, old place. Then on Friday, I drove to Austin with Taylor and some of his friends. The 7th grade had a tour of the Capital - it poured down rain on the way there, but it was nice when we got there and we had fun. See photos above!
